# Follow the steps below to check the status of an FBI Electronic Departmental Order (EDO) and guide applicants on how to view their results on ApplicantServices.com after the transaction is complete.
1. Check the Manage Transactions page to verify the transaction was sent successfully
The Submission Status cycles through 2 stages: prepared and transmitted. If this field is blank, you have not yet submitted the application. Prepared means the transaction was submitted but is still in your system. Transmitted means the transaction has been sent to the FBI.
If the status says error, the FBI has rejected this background check, and a resubmission needs to be done.
2. The FBI generally returns the results in 24 to 48 hours
3. Applicants can view and download their results on our website. Have them click on the "Transaction History" menu option at the top of the page and log in.

4. Have them scroll down on the page until they get to the "Available Options For" menu. Click the View/Download button to download the response.
If the View/Download button is not visible and the appointment was completed, we advise the applicant to check back later.

5. After clicking the View/Download button, the applicant can click on the "Download Authenticated PDF" button to download the report with the FBI's seal

6. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE
After the applicant accesses the FBI Response, it will be deleted within 24 hours. Make sure the applicant knows to download the “Authenticated PDF” first and then print it if needed. The response will be deleted 30 days from the date of the transaction, regardless of whether they accessed it or not.
